The Joyce Hill Column
Prof. Joyce Hill is an international authority on the transmission of Christian culture in early medieval Europe. Now retired from the University of Leeds, but still very active in research, she draws on her expertise to write a monthly article. When she began in 2007, these were just for St Aidan’s, but their popularity quickly grew and they are now published by several churches. Joyce has been an active member of our congregation since the early 1970s. She serves at national level as an adviser in the selection process for ordination candidates, she is on the Chapter of Ripon Cathedral, is a member of the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England, and is an elected member and one of the Chairs of the Church of England’s General Synod.
